PC LAN Technician #1024119Job Description:
Job Summary:
The PC LAN Technician plays a critical role in supporting and maintaining the IT infrastructure of our automotive manufacturing plant. This hands-on role ensures the reliability and performance of network systems, production equipment, and end-user devices in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- IT Support & Troubleshooting: Deliver daily technical support for PCs, laptops, printers, scanners, and other connected devices throughout the plant.
- Network Maintenance: Support LAN/WAN operations, including configuration and troubleshooting of routers, switches, and wireless access points.
- Manufacturing Systems Support: Provide IT support for essential plant-floor production systems such as HMIs, barcode scanners, and label printers.
- Hardware & Software Management: Install and maintain operating systems, drivers, and applications necessary for plant operations.
- Preventative Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance and system updates to uphold security and performance standards.
- Incident Response: Address service desk tickets promptly, document resolutions, and support end-user satisfaction.
- User Training & Documentation: Educate plant staff on IT best practices and maintain up-to-date technical documentation.
- Cybersecurity Compliance: Apply and monitor security controls in alignment with corporate cybersecurity guidelines.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with corporate IT teams to support system rollouts and resolve advanced technical issues.
Role:
- Responsible for resolving IT Issues, internal customer base, users/employees onsite there at the plant
- Could it be if Wi-Fi goes out, or conference room tech issues, computer issues, computers die, onsite help desk
- Field services
- Not just working tickets and taking calls
- Mostly related to help desk, tickets, helping people with monitors, computers, troubleshooting printers, networking (not expert, have to be able to walk them through)
- Setting up employee badges, installing software on computer
Qualifications & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or CCNA are a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on IT support experience, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Proficient in troubleshooting Windows-based systems and working with Active Directory and Office 365.
- Familiarity with MES, SCADA, or industrial automation tools is beneficial.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, VLANs, and wireless infrastructure.
- Self-starter with excellent problem-solving abilities and adaptability in high-pressure situations.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to support both technical and non-technical staff.
- Problem solver, experience with hardware, troubleshooting, fixing things
- Networking – infrastructure, wifi, cables, get systems up and running,
- Someone who has ability to figure something out, fast learner, willing to teach, figure things out, know the lingo, pretty good
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Work performed in an automotive manufacturing setting; exposure to machinery, noise, and temperature changes.
- Must be able to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Flexible schedule availability including occasional overtime or on-call coverage for production-critical issues.
